This Privacy Policy applies to the BeforeEat mobile app and website.
BeforeEat helps users take a photo of food before eating and receive an estimated nutrition breakdown. Nutrition results are estimates only and are not medical advice.
Information we access or collect
- Camera access: BeforeEat requests camera permission so you can take food photos for nutrition estimates.
- Food photos: When analysis is enabled, BeforeEat may process a compressed JPEG version of the food photo.
- Nutrition results: The app shows estimated calories, macros, fiber, likely vitamins, confidence, and warnings.
- Saved meals: If you choose to save a result, the app stores the meal photo and nutrition estimate locally on your device.
- Language preference: If you choose a language, the app stores that preference locally on your device.
How we use information
- To provide app functionality, including food photo capture and nutrition estimation.
- To show saved meal history when you choose to save meals.
- To display the app in English, Vietnamese, or your device language when set to System.
Processing and sharing
BeforeEat does not sell user data. BeforeEat does not use ads. BeforeEat does not require an account. When server analysis is enabled, a compressed food photo may be sent over HTTPS to the BeforeEat analysis service. That service may use AI service providers, such as Google Gemini or OpenAI, as service providers to generate the nutrition estimate. These providers process the photo to return the requested estimate.
Data security
Data sent for analysis is transmitted using HTTPS. Saved meal history is stored locally on your device. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but BeforeEat limits data use to the app functionality described here.
Data retention and deletion
Saved meals and language preferences remain on your device until you delete app data or uninstall the app. If you want to request deletion of data that may have been processed by the analysis service, contact us at te.hoa.3@gmail.com.
Children
BeforeEat is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features or data practices change. Updates will be posted on this page.
